The Larimer Alliance’s recent fundraising appeal to help hire expert witnesses to go before the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission was a resounding success!
Your response let us contribute $2125 toward bringing notable environmental experts to the COGCC's critical rulemaking sessions. They will present strong research, encouraging the COGCC to put protective setbacks into the revised oil and gas regulations as mandated by Senate Bill 19-181. These heavy-hitters will provide testimony in an afternoon session at the COGCC's Mission Change Rulemaking Session on Friday, September 4. The full schedule can be found at this link (Start on Page Four). Folks who have been following these sessions say it's all worth viewing from opening gavel until the closing. Our coalition, Citizen Groups, is included in in the Environmental Groups session at 2:45 in the afternoon.
Our team of experts are:
Lee Ann Hill, a Master of Public Health, known for her technical examination of chemical use and waste streams of the industry across multiple states. She participates with Physicians, Scientists and Engineers for Health Energy (PSE).
Seth Shonkoff, Ph.D., also of PSE, a scientist with over 35 peer-reviewed reports and articles, including the Human Health chapter of the IPCC (Fifth Assessment Report). He has been distinguished as one of 20 Pioneers in Environmental Public Health under age 40 by the Collaborative on Health and the Environment.
