The Larimer Alliance continues to track the County’s rulemaking process for oil and gas development in Larimer County. On April 28, the Planning Department released a new discussion draft as they proceed with revisions to the Larimer County Land Use Code. The latest version of the rules have new provisions addressing Public Health, Welfare, and Environmental Standards.

The County Commissioners will hold a Work Session to be briefed on the draft regulations on Monday, May 3, at 1:30 PM with Community Planning, Infrastructure, and Resources. See the agenda here, which this topic:

Item 2: Oil and Gas Regulations Discussion Purpose: Hear direction from BCC on land use and locational topics and public health, welfare, and environmental standards within regulations

Larimer County: Oil & Gas Virtual Open House

The Larimer County Planning Department will host this online event, which is dedicated to public input on the vital issues of regulation of the oil and gas industry regarding the issues of:

  • air quality
  • water quality (state standards)
  • other environmental standards
  • emergency response
  • nuisance issues

Joint Work Session – County Commissioners and Planning Commission on O&G Rules Revision

The consolidated draft of the ongoing revision of the O&G rules should be available here on June 4. There will be a joint work session of the County Commissioners and the Larimer County Planning Commission on Wednesday, June 9 at 6:00 PM, which can be viewed here.

Although no public comment will take place at this event, it can be instructive to see observe the rules revision process as it happens. Reactions of key figures among the Commissioners, the Planning Commission, and County staff can provide clues as to where we need to apply pressure!
