This Tuesday, August 25, Longmont City Council will vote on whether or not to extend their contract with Dr. Detlev Helmig’s company Boulder Air for air quality monitoring at Union Reservoir and Vance Brand Airport.  Your support for extending this contract is badly needed.

The Longmont Climate Community will present Part 3 of a three-part series on the health effects of the air we breathe.  In Part 3 of “What is In Our Air and What Are We Going to Do About It” State Legislators, County Commissioners, a City Council representative, and attorneys will share what our state and local government officials are doing to protect our air in panel discussions. There will be a special virtual appearance by Representative Joe Neguse.

Please mark your calendars for the Longmont Climate Community next virtual event on Feb 10 at 6:30 PM. The event flyer is attached. Feel free to share it and bring a friend!
“What is in our air? How One local community is fighting the fossil fuel industry.”
The Longmont Climate Community will present Part 4, “What Is In Our Air and What Can We Do About It.” They will discuss what is happening in Commerce City with the Cultivando Project and the fight with the Suncorp Refinery for clean air. Phil Doe, from Cultivando will discuss the Cultivando project to protect residents from the effects of air pollution and how they are fighting back. Jonathan Singer and Mike Foote will talk about the current legal and government actions in a panel discussion.
Air Pollution in Northeast Colorado has been linked to oil and gas development. Much of the Front Range has been designated by EPA as a “serious nonattainment area” for ozone levels. Health effects have been documented. So what is next? Please join us to learn more.
